Vietnam here we come

Today was fairly low key, with most of it being spent in various forms of transport as we flew to Hanoi.

We arrived in the early afternoon to a much cooler climate with a very heavy fog. The temperature is great for us, although many of the locals are wearing insulated jackets! Hopefully the fog will clear so that we can enjoy the views in Ha Long Bay as we head out to Cat Ba island early tomorrow.

Our first taste of Hanoi has been a positive one, we had a lovely evening walk around the old town where we are staying. It is total madness with mopeds everywhere. We have managed the road crossings ok so far thanks to staying at a steady pace and making eye contact with your potential assailant! Sophie has fared better than me in this regard I think, as I have stumbled and hesitated while making the initial surge several times!

- Sophie the giant!

We got dinner in the form of hot pork sandwiches and kumquat juice for a total of 35,000 dong each, just over a pound! And it was so tasty/cheap that we nearly opted for another! Your pound also got you the experience of pretending to be a giant as you sat in the tiny plastic tables and chairs!

It's an early start tomorrow, but Cat Ba Island should be well worth it! Our first taste of sport climbing and maybe we will sneak in some water sports as well.
